Job Description
At Course Hero, we envision a world where every student graduates, confident and prepared, and engaging with our student, educator, and tutor audiences via social channels throughout their learning and teaching journeys is critical to supporting this vision. We are looking for someone to join our talented Brand & Communications team on a contract basis to support our Social Media Manager’s parental leave. The assignment will begin as soon as possible and end in mid December 2023.Â
In this role, you will be responsible for managing our existing social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, Twitter) and bringing engaging and informative content to our diverse audiences. You will work closely with the Brand and broader Course Hero team, while reporting directly to our VP, Brand & Communications. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and who can commit to the duration of the contract.Â
Here are some ways you’ll make an impact:
- As a content cultivator. You’ll work with students and educators that use Course Hero, to create content based on their unique experiences. You’ll also collaborate with our in-house comms, creative and marketing team to create compelling content.
- As a writer. You have a love (and a knack for) social copywriting and captioning.Â
- As an editorial planner. You'll own the calendar of content across all social platforms, collaborating with brand marketing, growth marketing, design, and key stakeholders to execute marketing campaigns as well as day-to-day publishing.
- As a content creator. You’ll create engaging, relevant, relatable videos and graphics for our student audience across TikTok, Instagram, Reels etc. using Canva or similar technology. You’ll follow brand guidelines while putting your own creative spin on things.
- As a conversationalist. You’ll proactively connect with our community in comments across owned channels, as well as other creator/brands’ trending content. Â
- You know what’s trending and love to participate. You’ll tactfully generate ideas based on what’s happening on the internet and what students are currently experiencing academically and culturally.Â
- You’re a team player, as a member of the brand and broader Course Hero team. You’ll participate in cross-functional marketing initiatives and partner with customer support to ensure customers are responded to in a timely, and effective manner. You’ll also work with vendors and channel partners, where relevant.
- You’re analytical and will leverage data from tools such as SproutSocial and native social platforms to generate quarterly or campaign reports, social listening insights, and feedback for key stakeholders to inform future decision-making.
- You’re operational and detail-oriented. You’ll manage day-to-day social operations and manage the complex data review and reporting for social recaps.
- You subscribe to an “always learning” mentality for yourself and others. You are well versed in giving and receiving feedback, failing forward, and seeking out opportunities for ongoing development.
Are you our Social Media Manager?Â
- 5+ years experience in social media and communications – preferably in a consumer-facing, digital capacity.
- Exceptionally strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills, with the ability to present ideas and information clearly and confidence in creating visuals and editing video content specifically for social media.
- Passionate about the social media landscape (trending topics, industry developments, emerging platforms), especially TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Experience with representing a brand, and effectively communicating social team initiatives internally.Â
- As a strategic and analytical thinker, you’ll have expertise in developing metrics-centered reports and proposals.
- A deep understanding of social media software (e.g. Sprout, Sprinklr, Falcon); and experience with content creation tools such as Canva or Figma.Â

In accordance with California, Colorado, New York, and Washington law, the hourly rate for this role if filled in any of these states is $33-$49 per hour. The base pay for this position is dependent on multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above in accordance to a market-based pay structure.
