Software Engineer (QBE Insurance Corporation, New York, NY): Develop effective applications by analyzing business needs and requirements, conducting user acceptance testing, and troubleshooting errors to deliver business solutions. Build applications by translating specifications into programming language and forecasting solutions to anticipated problems to ensure effectiveness of programs for business use. Write or contribute to instructions or manuals to guide end users. Participate in testing of functionality and analyzing sample data sets to ensure accuracy of program output and support the achievement of quality assurance and key stakeholder standards. Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes. Collaborate with internal stakeholders by participating in design and code reviews and escalating issues to troubleshoot errors and gaps. Help refine processes and technical standards and ensure continual effectiveness of team deliverables. Provide accurate record-keeping by writing detailed documentation for the operation of programs to facilitate user understanding of application functioning. Train junior staff in programming and program coding. Apply knowledge of CI/CD implementation. Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance and value "can do" people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity, and fun.
Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Offered wage of $128,320 per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, and 2 years of related IT work experience in the finance or insurance industry.
Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following:
β’ Serving as technical coordinator between business and development teams based on business
requirements and solution design;β’ Designing and developing software applications using Java, C#, JavaScript, and Visual Basic .Net;β’ Designing and building SQL Stored Procedures and collaborating with Database Administrators to
build and design tables;β’ Designing and developing software using Waterfall or Agile methodology;β’ Producing technical solution documentation artifacts for Architecture and Security reviews; andβ’ Utilizing Bitbucket or Github in a multi developer environment.
Must also have experience in at least one full software application project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, coding, user acceptance testing, fixing defects, performance testing, deploying, and post-implementation user validation.
Must have willingness and availability to travel up to 10% of the time domestically.
