Software Engineer - Front End

About the Role

Home Solutions is seeking a passionate mid-level WordPress Developer to join our small, agile team. If you live and breathe web development, love coming up with creative technical solutions, and have strong expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, this role is perfect for you. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in developing responsive websites and creating custom WordPress themes, and will be excited to contribute to a dynamic and growing company.

Your Day-to-Day

Reporting to the Engineering Manager of Web Development, the Software Engineer will:

• Strong experience in developing custom WordPress themes and plugins, with a deep understanding of WordPress architecture and best practices.
• Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including experience with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
• Proficient in using Git for version control, including branching, merging, and pull requests.
• Ability to debug and resolve issues across different browsers and devices.
• Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG).
• Understanding of front-end performance metrics and how to optimize load times (e.g., minification, lazy loading).
• Partner with business teams to troubleshoot, replicate production issues, and implement fixes
• Monitor sites and applications and proactively optimize and bugfix
• Have a strong interest in learning and continuously developing skills in new technologies

About You

• 3-5+ years of experience with full stack web development
• Best practices in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Experience with React (WP Gutenberg Blocks) is a plus
• AWS, Cloudways, Pantheon DevOps experience
• Professional experience with WordPress and related technologies
• Experience with version control systems
