Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer with expertise in cloud based server side development (.Net & Microsoft Azure) and to lead our dynamic team, who is assertive with ability to drive results. As a lead Software Engineer at Trimble Transportation, you will be responsible for leading the team in designing, developing, and deploying robust, scalable, and high-performance software for high velocity compliance solutions in the Transportation division. You will collaborate with full stack teams to gather requirements, deliver technical solutions, work with an innovative mindset and ensure the successful delivery of projects. This role requires deep technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and a strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications and systems using React JS, Node JS, Kafka, Google Cloud, Docker, Azure and related technologies.
• Create well-designed and efficient APIs for internal and external consumption.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Develop database schemas and optimize SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and storage in both RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
• Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms, specifically Azure, ensuring scalability, availability, and security.
• Design and implement microservices, ensuring loose coupling and high cohesion between services.
• Implement event-driven design patterns and technologies to build scalable and resilient systems.
• Write clean, modular, and testable code following software engineering best practices.
• Conduct thorough unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing to ensure the reliability and quality of software solutions.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement and automate CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot and debug software defects, performance bottlenecks, and production issues.
• Stay updated with the latest technologies, frameworks, and tools related to software development, cloud computing, and microservices architecture.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on React JS for front-end and Node.js backend technologies with exposure in API development.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and related technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with event-driven design patterns and technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Experience working with Material UI or Bootstrap
• Experience with react state management libraries (eg: Redux)
• Experience with cloud platforms and knowledge of cloud deployment methodologies.
• Experience with RESTful API design and development.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks (Jest, Enzyme, xUnit), familiarity with Test driven development.
• Experience with front-end build tools, such as Webpack.
• In-depth knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and front-end languages.
• Strong understanding of RDBMS (e.g., SQL Server, PostgresQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., ElasticSearch).
• Knowledge of software development best practices, including version control (e.g., Git), code reviews, and testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex software systems.
• Continuous learning mindset and willingness to explore and adopt new technologies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team and with stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, practices and tools (Jira, Rally etc)
