Software Engineering Manager

Summary

Simplot is on a transformational journey focused on delivering value to our customers now and in the future. This new software engineering team is responsible for creating and maintaining custom built software solutions and enabling software solution capabilities across our entire application portfolio. This includes but not limited to Azure, distributed systems, containers, OpenShift/Kubernetes, IaC, Ansible/AWX, and CI/CD pipelines. Each team, member will contribute to projects and solutions across a broad application portfolio stack.

A successful leader for this team will have a solid understanding of the technical capabilities, as well as the complexities that come along with these types of solutions. This leader will set direction and manage deliverables to achieve that direction while also engaging with team members to ensure they achieve their goals and have a fulfilling experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Manages a Software Engineering Team, architecture direction, and underlying solution sets to continuously deliver value to the business units and the overall company initiatives.
• Lead the team in developing global software engineering standards, determine which solutions to provide in each use case, and engage the appropriate delivery models for global and regional applications and services. These delivery models will be based on utilization of Agile and LEAN principles where the contribution level of each resource is recognized by all team members and stakeholders.
• Establish and ensure the appropriate communications, change management, and delivery of solutions across the company.
• Manage all activities and development of delivery staff, including employees, contractors, and vendors.
• Manage IT application delivery financial performance and budgets.
• Help make the job fun for team and others.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

• 5 years related experience and/or training
• Solid EQ and ability to lead and work with others collaboratively
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
• Strong understanding of cloud concepts on Azure (company standard) or AWS
• Strong understanding of software development and Enterprise Integration Patterns & Practices
• Understanding of Agile methodologies is desired
• Solid understanding of automation CI/CD, Ansible/AWX, distributed systems, DDD, containers/k8s is a plus
