Dolby's consumer entertainment and cinema businesses are bringing Dolby's breakthrough technologies, powering the world's top movies, TV shows, music, games, and live sports to more places around the world across a wider range of consumer experiences and devices.

As a Solutions Engineer focused on video, you will help demonstrate the value of Dolby's imaging technologies to its platform partners: streaming services, Pay-TV operators and broadcasters, and support them in integrating the technologies into their end-to-end workflows.

You will play an active role in providing education and integration support and help troubleshoot and resolve issues identified in the field. You will be the technical liaison between the customers and Dolby's internal teams such as support and engineering.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Work with platform partners to enable and support Dolby Vision and other Dolby imaging technologies in their end-to-end workflows. These partners include streaming services, Pay TV operators and broadcasters.
  • Collaborate with account managers to support pre-sales activities by building and delivering technical presentations and demonstrations of existing and new imaging technologies
  • Manage the day-to-day communication on technical issues, communicating with Dolby's Engineering teams and following up on outstanding technical issues both internally and externally with partners
  • Support, and work with, the playback and devices field applications engineering team when required.
  • Establish and own relationships with technical contacts at existing and prospective partner companies
  • Domestic travel to US-based customer sites may be required, along with occasional international travel
Requirements:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering Technology, Electrical, Video, Audio, etc., or equivalent experience
  • Experience with CLI tools, experience coding in C and/or C++, and with one or more scripting languages (PERL, Python, BASH, etc.) is desirable.
  • Experience working with streaming technologies and protocols like MPEG-DASH and HLS, and video compression standards like HEVC and AV1.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end video workflows for video-on-demand and live broadcast is desirable.
  • Exposure to color science is desirable.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to understand and explain technical issues to technical and non-technical personnel
  • Comprehensive written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Interest in video production, recording engineering, game/film video, or cinematography is highly desirable

The San Francisco/Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is $87,600-$117,000, which can vary if outside this location,plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
