Job Description

Our Company has one exciting mission: To entertain the human race It is the primary responsibility of the Sommelier to aid the Management Staff and Server Staff in beverage recommendations, sales and execution during service hours of operation. Beverage service includes those operating responsibilities which occur before, during and after operating restaurant hours. The Sommelier will also participate in staff training, wine list maintenance, beverage inventory, and maintain proper inventory levels of wine selections.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Conduct a monthly inventory on all beverages and supplies.
- Update inventory locations and bin labels whenever wines are moved.
- Maintain cleanliness in all beverage areas.
- Eliminate waste by monitoring employees on pour levels, proper storage, etc.
- Set-up and train employees on wine and beverage service and knowledge.
- Enforce proper beverage service standards of all employees during service.
- Engage in all aspects of beverage service during restaurant service hours.
- Manage pricing/maintenance issues to ensure checks can be processed correctly.
- Maintain clean, error-free wine lists by constantly updating and reprinting.
- Meet regularly with the wine trade to actively seek quality wines for the restaurant wine program.
- Taste and evaluate wines and other beverages for potential purchase.
- Check in warehouse and direct beverage orders. Return/Exchange any beverage where a warehouse error has occurred.
- Compare warehouse invoice against previous night's sales to ensure all proper beverage was ordered and correct any errors.
- Stock wine prior to and after service. Polish glassware.
- Set-up and break-down all by-the-glass and wine pairing areas.
- Place AS400 and Coupa beverage orders at the end of service or by midnight of said service.
- Perform other job related duties as requested.
- Maintain a level of professionalism that will make guests want to return to the property.
- Anticipate the guests' needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.
- Work as a team, assisting all guests' and employees' needs and inquiries.
- Effectively communicate with management, chefs and culinary staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- At least 3 years of service experience in a similar dining environment.
- Strong working knowledge of wines, other beverages and their proper service.
- Working knowledge of Point of Sales (POS) systems and operations.
- Working knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
PREFERRED:
- Background and knowledge of Italian cuisine and style of service.
- Broad beverage knowledge of Sake.
- Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory Course completion.
- Certificate Diploma or Advanced Diploma from CMS.

- Food Handler Card
- TAM Card
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
