Specimen Processing Specialist

LabCorp is seeking a Specimen Management Specialist to join our team in Holyoke, MA. This position will work with internal customers, patients & physician offices to ensure that all patient care needs are addressed accurately and efficiently. The Specimen Management Specialist will provide product education and handle a wide variety of questions while providing market leading services. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving health and improving lives.

Schedule: Monday-Friday and alternating weekends (4:30pm-1am)

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Act a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients.
• Resolve internal & external Customer requests via calls, instant messenger & email communications
• Collaborates with Specimen Management Specialists throughout New England to troubleshoot and locate specimens
• Reviews pending logs for the internal microbiology/serology and molecular teams
• Communicates with customers in respectful and professional manner.
• Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions.
• Provide customer education and information as needed.
• Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
• Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
• Accurately identify and label specimens.
• Pack and ship specimens as necessary.
• Prepare and store excess specimen samples.
