Overview:
Position: Speech Therapist (SLP)
Department: Rehab South
Hours / Shift: PRN / Weekday and Weekend Shifts
Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Oklahoma City South, is a 36-bed rehabilitation hospital located in the southern part of Oklahoma City at 7900 Mid America Blvd. Our rehabilitation hospital provides care for patients 18 and over recovering from strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions. Patients receive 3 hours of Therapy every 5 out of 7 days they are at our facility.
We aim to provide the most optimal setting for rehabilitation and recovery. To achieve this goal, we offer the following amenities:
- 41,000 square feet of a modern, naturally sunlit environment to drastically enhance our patients, families, and staff experience.
- 36 private rooms
- Large modern equipped Therapy Gyms including a EKSO Skeleton NR
- A complete pharmacy and in-house dialysis capabilities
- A retrofitted “Smart Car” (real car) for mobility therapy
- A large therapy courtyard with multiple therapy options in a park like setting
- A furnished Assisted Daily Living apartment with a fully functioning kitchen and bath
- A large dining hall with buffet line and outdoor patio for patients, physicians, co-workers, and family to enjoy.
- A multitude of family gathering and meeting areas
Under the general supervision of the Physical Medicine Supervisor and according to standards of treatment, performs objective assessments as well as comprehensive individualized treatment programs for patients of all ages according to departmental policies and procedures regarding referral.
- Perform initial assessment on each patient upon receiving referral. Document all information according to departmental policies and procedures.
- Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimens, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
- Participate in promoting education within the department.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
- Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
- Licensure: Current or provisional Speech Language Pathologist license in applicable State of practice.
- Certifications: Certification from American Speech and Hearing Association within 1 year of hire, extension at discretion of leader and clinical fellowship supervisor. BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.
- Other: Must be able to respond to emergency situations.
- Preferred Experience: one year of experience. Experience in caring for patients of all ages preferred.
