What is My Impact?

The Senior IT Application Architects (MERN Stack) mentors and provides technology oversight to IT Contact Development Leads, Principal Developers and Application architects. Responsible for ensuring quality and consistency of the applications architecture across the system and providing technical guidance to the development teams. Define application architectures and recommends courses of action to ensure technology is consistent, usable, secure and adds value to the business. Serves the company as an advisor on best practices and stays current on business initiatives and objectives. Researches and evaluates new technology and development tools to remain abreast of current and emerging technology. Senior IT Application Architects lead efforts, oversee work results, providing formal training and serve as a technical resource for others.

What Will I Do?

  • Serves as application architecture subject matter expert to business areas, project teams and vendors to apply and execute appropriate use of technology solutions and lead efforts to examine technology vision, opportunities and challenges. Builds consensus around principles of application architecture and interprets and clarifies these principles.
  • Evaluates strengths and flaws in application architecture designs including performance, quality, and availability, simplicity of design, security and total cost of ownership. Define reusable components and patterns.
  • Participates in the evaluation, selection and implementation of technology solutions including providing detailed analysis of pros and cons and build vs buy options. Promotes implementation of new technology, solutions and methods to improve business processes, efficiency, effectiveness and value delivered to customers. Maintains operational, architectural and design documentation including procedures, task lists, and business area architecture blueprints.
  • Benchmarks technology strategies and architectures. Monitors and anticipates trends and investigates organizational objectives and needs. Provides guidance on integration solutions and prepares benchmarking reports and presentations. Establishes and maintains vendor relationships to review and evaluate designs and controls and influence changes in future product releases.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with IT and business area partners to evaluate designs and controls communicating business value and ROI of architecture. Mentors and provides technical oversight of work of less experienced Architects.

What is Required?

  • 6+ years related work experience. Experience Details: IT development/programming/coding professional work experience or equivalent combination of transferrable experience and education. Display technical leadership.
  • Related Bachelor's degree or additional related equivalent work experience IT related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2 or more years of work experience as an Application Architect working on progressively complex IT projects [Senior]
  • Proficient in multiple programming languages.
  • Proficiency using versioning tools.
  • Proficiency using debugging tools.
  • Proficiency using standard desktop applications such as MS Suite and flowcharting tools such as Visio.
  • Lifelong learner and practitioner of new technologies in alignment with IT strategies
  • Experience and understanding with unit testing, release procedures, coding, design and documentation protocol as well as change management procedures.
  • Practitioner of Project Management Methodologies (e.g. waterfall, iterative, agile discipline)
  • Knowledge in Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Delivery (CD) software engineering practices
  • Knowledge in defining extensible architectures that can be built by project team incrementally
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Proficiency in creating architecture, green-field and redesign, and communicate the same to project team
  • Critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Ability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback to improve performance.
  • Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience applying current and emerging technology solutions and trends.
  • Ability to communicate highly complex technical information clearly and articulately for wide variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to understand overall IT strategy and apply/implement IT strategy in assigned projects/initiatives.
  • Highly developed proficiency in creating architectural designs for gradually complex project needs within supported business area.
  • Highly adept at consulting, negotiating, communicating, consensus building, presentation and facilitation.
  • In-depth business process knowledge of several key business functional areas within supported
  • Deep knowledge of the applications being supported.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and effective independent decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in creating architectural designs for gradually complex designs across applications within supported business area.
  • Proficiency in aligning and rationalizing business applications to simplify the IT portfolio and reduce costs
  • Exceptional leadership skills demonstrated through projects/programs.
  • Highly adept at innovating and thinking beyond established standards and processes

  • Data in motion architectures, streaming
  • Experience with async, reactive systems
  • IVR, chat, AWS connect, cisco telephony knowledge a plus

General Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.
