Job Description Summary

Designing, planning, and implementing the organization's employee relations programs, policies, and procedures; ensuring policies are consistently applied as they relate to employee relations. Ensuring the division's human resources operations align with current, applicable labor laws. Identifying the division's priorities and challenges from business plans and translating them into improved HR strategies and organizational initiatives. Being responsible for and providing recommendations for improvements to the division's human resources operations.

Job Description

  • Serve as a link between management and associates.
  • Provide proactive consultation and direction to management in areas of employee relations, performance management, training and development, and overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Champions labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements.
  • Analyze and propose changes as needed to local plant policies and procedures to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Perform complex staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, mediating disputes, associate separations, and administering disciplinary procedures.
  • Plan and conduct onboarding activities for key positions.
  • Identify staff vacancies, partner with management for proactive workforce planning, and recruit, interview and select applicants.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate work activities of local HR team and staff relating to employment, compensation, benefits, safety and employee relations.
  • Strategize training activities for the plant.
  • Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Administer compensation, benefits and performance management systems.
  • Manage and administer Workers' Compensation programs and coordinate all safety and training initiatives with EH&S Leader.
  • Supervise associate performance by setting goals and conducting periodic review of progress towards attainment.
  • Lead reporting on department activities and initiatives while tracking progress to Leadership.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years combined experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, and Training. Minimum 3 years human resources experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a unionized environment and leading negotiations.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years' experience directing a team.

ADDITIONAL requirements

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, take care of frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Be self-directed and motivated individual with high integrity.
  • Previous experience using HRIS.
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Meaningful knowledge of human resource policies/procedures and knowledge of federal employment/labor laws (i.e.; ADA, FMLA, FLSA, etc.) and contract negotiations.
  • This position works with limited physical effort in conditions with minimal exposure to noise and operating machinery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution with focus of Human Resources.
  • PHR/SPHR Certification.
