The Shared Rides team at Uber is focused on delivering an affordable rideshare service by sharing the cost of the driver among multiple riders. This team works on various aspects of shared rides, such as improving rider and driver experiences, optimizing matching algorithms for efficient sharing, and devising pricing strategies to enhance cost savings and rider engagement. They tackle complex problems in real-time, like efficiently matching drivers with ride requests and arranging trips with similar routes.

For mobile engineers, the role is instrumental in designing and building scalable software solutions that enable seamless experiences in the Rider App. Mobile engineers collaborate across the product and platform features of the flagship Uber app. They are involved in developing complex user interfaces and enhancing mobile application features, ensuring that the shared ride services are efficient and provide a defect-free experience for both riders and drivers. They require expertise in Android development, partnering with various engineering, product, and operations teams to deliver innovative services.
