Sr. Data Engineer Experience

Some of the things we’d like you to do:

Data Engineering

Build data pipeline:

• Understand the data product offerings from vendors; evaluate & recommend vendors from data infrastructure perspective; 
• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture to work with selected vendors' data infrastructure;
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business needs

Build & Improve data infrastructure: 

• Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources;
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements when needed: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

Product Management

• Drive Product Development - Partner with data science, data engineering, design, and client analytics to define requirements, use cases, features, and delivery.
• Stakeholder Management - Facilitate consensus driven decision making with Essence leadership and client partners on priorities and features that prove the most business value.
• Parse Customer and Stakeholder Feedback - Diagnose successes, failures, and opportunities for improvement.  Prioritize problem areas.
• Primary POC for Customers and Internal Stakeholders - Collaborate with clients and partners to understand how best to deploy, integrate, and scale product related solutions.

A bit about yourself:

• Ideally 5+ years of data engineering experience;
• Programming expert in Python, SQL & Shell scripts;
• Experience in automation of ETL pipeline using Airflow or other similar tools;
• Experience in data extraction & ingestion involving distributed data systems using protocols like REST, HTTP, FTP, etc.;
• Experience in Big Data technologies;
• Good understanding of data architecture, data integrity concepts and data standardization;
• Ability to quickly understand complex products and translate to clear, actionable specifications for product improvement;
• Ability to communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences across varying levels of seniority;
• Understand agile and other product management workflows;
• Understand technical architecture of complex and highly scalable solutions;
• Understand most recent trends around big data and analytics, visualization tools, and digital measurement;
• Experience in Google Cloud Platform/AWS technologies is a plus;
• Experience in data analysis and visualization is a plus;
• Experience in marketing analytics and/or digital media experience is a plus;
• Understanding of marketing campaigns and their objectives, experience with search analytics and/or Financial Services industry is a plus
