The Role

Tesla's Service Tooling Engineering team is seeking an exceptionally skilled Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to spearhead the development of innovative automation and embedded systems. This role is pivotal in achieving Tesla's vision of transforming automotive service. You will play a central role in blending firmware and software expertise, working in tandem with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to enhance our ability to craft sophisticated and cohesive solutions. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across disciplines with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to produce integrated software-hardware solutions
  • Lead cross-functional collaborations to diagnose issues and develop actionable procurement strategies, balancing safety, cost-efficiency, and urgency
  • Design and produce automotive equipment for large scale distribution and guide projects from conceptualization to prototype, ensuring seamless transition to mass production and field support
  • Create tooling designs and specifications in partnership with engineering teams, adhering to industry standards
  • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to management, highlighting key issues and risks
  • Collaborate with Tesla tooling distributors to optimize tool selection, implementation, and tracking
  • Drive global implementation and education of automated tooling with support of local teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics or related technical design field from ABET accredited program, or equivalent experience
  • Proven track record of leading projects from concept to completion and demonstrated experience in creating detailed engineering drawings and documentation
  • Demonstrated experience in creating detailed engineering drawings and documentation with hands-on experience in building physical projects (e.g., wire harnesses, microcontroller projects)
  • Expertise in embedded system design, including automated equipment control systems
  • Capabilities in developing user interfaces and networked system integrations and experience with database systems and automated control systems
  • Strong skills in 3D CAD / eCAD, with CATIA and Altium being advantageous, familiarity with regulatory standards (OSHA, CE, CCC, ASME) is beneficial
  • Experience in service or manufacturing environments is highly regarded, experience in managing external supplier relationships and deliverables and proficiency in SQL, C, and Python preferred

      $68,000 - $252,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
