Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a talented Traction Power Team Leader to join our growing Transit Systems Practice and World Class rail team in Philadelphia, PA . The ideal candidate will lead a growing team and the opportunity to work on high profile projects with major transit agencies throughout the country. Also, the primary role of this position is to prepare design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with traction power system for electrified railways ac and dc.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Technical competence in all elements of transit traction power engineering.
- Ability to perform project work as well as serve as a technical leader.
- Ability to prepare and guide drafters/designers and less experienced engineers to prepare One-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling, test plans, field tests, reports, analysis, and technical studies for traction power systems.
- Ability to perform protective relay settings and coordination studies.
- Ability to recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance with all clients, local, state, and federal regulations including AREMA railway standards, the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), the National Electrical Safety Code (IEEE C2), and other applicable US.
- Ability to exercise of judgment on details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally to all AECOM, partner, and client office locations, including project offices, if applicable.
- Ability to perform site investigations and walk-downs in high-voltage substations and along electrified railroads.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited education program with a minimum of 8 years of professional experience.
- Traction Power design experience with 750 V dc third rail and overhead; 12 kV ac, 25 Hz, 2 x 12.5 kV ac, 60 Hz, 2 x 25 kV, 60 Hz.
- Extensive experience in the execution and task leadership for design calculations plans development, specifications, and technical report writing
- Demonstrated ability to design with constructability in mind throughout all steps of the design process.
- Valid U.S. Driver's license with a good driving record.
- Professional Engineering (PE) Registration
- Experience with SEPTA, WMATA, LIRR, NJ Transit, PATH, PATCO and Amtrak Traction Power
- Experience in design/build and other alternative delivery projects
- Experience in writing of technical papers and technical presentations
- Experience technical studies for traction power systems, including train performance simulations, ac and dc load flow simulations, short circuit calculations, EMF/EMI studies
- Leadership positions held on professional societies or technical committees
