Job Description

INTRODUCTION:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of functions in support of the Company's overall accounting function. This position prepares journal entries for daily activities and the monthly general ledger close; prepares and presents account reconciliations for responsible area and assists with consolidation, financial reporting, banking, tax or business support activities all while maintaining compliance with accounting policies and internal controls. This position is also expected to proactively and enthusiastically support team and Company initiatives, including process improvement and growth, in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Prepare and timely record accurate asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information
• Ensure all supporting documentation and backup for entries or accounting decisions is maintained for compliance or internal control requirements
• Reconcile assigned Balance Sheet accounts and maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by validating and resolving discrepancies
• Perform flux analysis and obtain detailed understanding of transactions/activities recorded to accounts, ensuring proper accounting is being applied and providing variance explanations with business drivers
• Collaborate with finance, accounts payable, treasury, and risk and compliance on month-end close and other critical processes
• Document procedures and workflow in assigned areas of responsibility
• Assist with the annual external audit, including requested materials and assigned schedules, process description and issue resolution
• Assist with cash or banking analysis, needs and requirements
• Assist with tax filings and overall tax compliance, as necessary
• Assist in research of accounting guidance and implementation of such policies
• Identify areas for improvement, including process or control weaknesses, communicate to management, and implement changes to enhance the control environment and mitigate risk

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE:

• B.S. or B.A. in Accounting or equivalent
• 2+ years experience in a corporate accounting or public accounting environment or Master's degree
• Thorough understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Professional communication skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to make sound decisions and take calculated risks

• Experience with payment processing and/or software-as-a-service industries
• Mergers & Acquisitions experience
• Private equity background
