Job Description
Do you want to help build real technology for a meaningful purpose? Do you want to fight to make the world’s fresh produce healthier, tastier, and more sustainable?Â
As a Staff Computer Vision and Machine Learning Engineer at Tortuga, you will be the driving force between revolutionary farm robots, the data they collect, and the farmers they’re helping. As an experienced member of the Data and Machine Learning team, you’ll use your passion for machine learning, data management, and statistical analysis to manage powerful perception technologies to our robotic fleet and groundbreaking information to both our operations team and farmer customers. We will lean heavily on your understanding of machine learning fundamentals and your experience applying machine learning to complicated domains as you take models from prototype to implementation across diverse production environments.Â
What you’ll do
Apply cutting-edge machine learning and computer vision techniques to tackle intricate agricultural challenges in our robots, such as detecting grape clusters in a vineyard or pests on strawberries.
Pave the way in machine learning operations and model lifecycle management, ensuring rapid and precise model deployment for field applications.
Own problem solving related to the application of cutting edge ML tools, frameworks, and research to complex domains found in dynamic outdoor environments.
Drive data analytics initiatives that leverage our extensive cloud data archives, providing valuable insights for our internal and external customers.
Collaborate closely with other technical and operations teams to architect new ontologies, while developing exceptional ground-truth datasets with support from our third-party labeling partners.Â
10%-15% travel, with potential for international travel; see how the models that you develop are functioning in live environments!Â
