Staff Software Engineer, Workflow Orchestration

The Difference You Will Make:

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our Data Development Infrastructure organization and lead our efforts in workflow orchestration. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure required to support our workflow orchestration platform. You will work closely with our infrastructure engineers, data engineers and other users of the data warehouse to ensure that the infrastructure is scalable, efficient, and reliable. 

A Typical Day: 

• Architecting and designing scalable, reliable, and highly available data infrastructure solutions to support our workflow orchestration platform and meet the needs of the company’s increasing demands.
• Developing and maintaining automation tools to streamline deployment and management of our platform.
• Collaborating with other teams to ensure that our platform is integrated with other systems and services as needed.
• Managing and prioritizing multiple projects and tasks, and communicating progress, risks and status updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Conducting research and staying up to date with emerging technologies, tools, and trends in data infrastructure, and recommending new solutions to improve our internal products.
• Developing and maintaining the technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
• Leading the workflow orchestration team in the design and development of high-quality software solutions.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product delivery.

Your Expertise:

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on data infrastructure.
• Experience working with data storage and distributed processing technologies, such as Hive, Spark, Trino, Flink or SQL databases.
• Strong programming skills in one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, or Scala.
• Strong experience with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Extensive background in workflow orchestration solutions such as Apache Airflow, Luigi, Azkaban, Oozie, Prefect or Kubeflow.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to learn quickly within a collaborative environment.
• Ability to work in areas outside of your usual comfort zone.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. 

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
