Storage Engineer

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to one of the following locations: Warren, MI or Austin, TX you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

The Role:

The Global Storage Operations team is growing their team and the successful candidate will join a multi-skilled Storage team which supports a very large Data Center infrastructure footprint across the globe.

What You'll Do (Job Responsibilities):

• Act as a knowledgeable interface between the Storage Operations team and Storage Innovation, Storage Architects, Project Mangers, and customer application teams.
• You will play a key role in managing production environment, user documentation, technical enhancements and keeping our data secure and safe.
• Review opportunities for automation and continually tuning the environment to perform efficiently.
• You will need to be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures and will plan, direct and coordinate activities pertaining to Data Protection best practices affecting information technology in GM's vast environment.
• Principle duties and Responsibilities will include:

• Client Server Backup and Recovery
• Configuration and management of Networker, Data Domain, Server administration: Windows, Linux, Unix

Support the ITIL Operational model: Incident, Problem, Release, Change, Configuration Management activities

You will be skilled at prioritizing tasks and reviewing capacity and performance data, predicting trends and potential issues.

Embrace mentorship and training of fellow engineers

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

• 1+ years of proven experience with DELL, EMC and other Data Protection products
• Bachelor's degree in IT related field and or equivalent work experience
• Strong team player, strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required
• Ability to work in a very large and fast-paced environment
• Goal oriented with high standards for quality and performance
• The following products and skills are within the job scope: DELL EMC Networker, Dell EMC vProxy, Dell EMC Data Domain products, Dell DPA Installation and Administration
• Dell CRV administration: Portworx Backup solutions, Cloning for Disaster Recovery, Unix/Linux shell scripting, Windows Power Shell scripting
• Knowledge of Industry standard methodologies relating to complex backup environments.
• Automation process delivery
• This job will require frequent evening and weekend rotational support

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

• 3+ years of proven experience
• Undergrad in IT
• Python coding experience
• Experience in Block, File or Object Storage Technologies
