Position Summary

Avantax is seeking a Strategic Relationship Manager - Strategic Relationships who will be focused on driving growth through building strong relationships with product sponsors as well as other service providers. We look for best-in-class product providers across all investments, annuities, insurance, etc. to develop long-standing partnerships. Through a true partnership, we look to leverage the tools and resources of these Partners to help Avantax Financial Professionals grow their wealth management practices. By providing direct access to Financial Professionals as well as home office sales and consulting teams, our Partners can showcase their solutions and resources that can help drive growth for Avantax and the firms we serve.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing partners with a focus on growing each relationship.
  • Assist in the implementation of the engagement model across the different partnership levels.
  • Consistent contact with Partners' key account managers to ensure partners are receiving what is needed, and that we are fully leveraging the resources which are available to us from our Partners.
  • Review and keep up to date on the current partner offerings.
  • Seek to find new ways to promote and market partner solutions within the Avantax network.
  • Track the progress of each partnership.

Cross-departmental Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Partner-led training sessions for internal team members to expand the knowledge base and skill level of teams on the tools, resources, and solutions of our Partners.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Communications to find ways to help promote our Partner's content and materials to be visible to our Financial Professionals.
  • Partner with the Events Team to find speakers and organize breakouts for all National Events for Avantax Wealth Management and Avantax Planning Partners.
  • Work with the Education team to provide content and connections for the Growth Through Community Program.

Growing Partnerships:

  • Assist in the identification of new partnership prospects across all areas.
  • As new Partners are added to the platform, engage a launch plan to educate internal staff as well as all Financial Professionals and staff.
  • For new Partnerships, it is crucial to keep internal teams up to date and fully aware of the capabilities of these new partnerships so they will communicate with Financial Professionals and staff to help the new partnerships grow.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the quarterly billing process.
  • Running reports and performing the needed reconciliation of such reports to adhere to the specific details of each partnership agreement.
  • Invoice creation for a portion of these agreements is sent out promptly.
  • Assist in securing sponsorship for all national events and periodically for regional or specialty events.

Education & Experience

To perform this job successfully, the Strategic Relationship Manager must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills, and ability required.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience and/or training.
  • Experience with MS Excel and Word, and the internet, required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Preferred: FINRA Series 7/66, or 65/63 combo.
  • Completion of ongoing Continuing Education credits is required.

Physical Demands & Work Effort

  • Keying/typing, standing, walking.
  • Sitting for an extended period.
  • Constant mental and/or visual attention; the work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office environment.
  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during the normal performance of the job.

Comprehensive Benefits

We offer a competitive salary, and an outstanding benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid vacation and sick days, paid holidays, tuition reimbursement, and 401(k) with the company.

Base Salary Range:

$90,000 - $129,000 per year; Variable incentive compensation eligible.

The salary range shown is representative of what Avantax expects to pay for this job. Actual salary may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location.
