The Strategy and Business Development Associate is responsible for helping shape our strategy and identify, scope and nurture emerging internal and external partnerships to assist in The Honest Company’s growth. This person will be expected to work out of the Honest Company’s HQ in Playa Vista, California and report to the Senior Director, Strategic Development. The Strategy and Business Development Associate will work closely with external partners and cross-functional teams within the organization (including but not limited to eCommerce, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Operations). Strong candidates will have excellent analytical, problem structuring and problem-solving skills. Must have a natural comfort with ambiguity and bias for speed, agility and action. Strong candidates will also have very strong, spoken and written communication with strengths in Excel modeling and PowerPoint.
What You’ll Do:

• Responsible for assisting Senior Director, Strategic Development to shape and manage our omnichannel and category strategy 

• Initiate execution of new growth opportunities in partnership with internal stakeholders and external partners

• Coordinate research, identify, analyze, and execute strategic efforts across the business - overseeing analytics to drive rigor and reporting

• Assist Senior Director, Strategic Development to develop well-thought-out business cases, and presentations to champion emerging opportunities

• Interface with external partners to explore opportunities develop detailed execution plans, and project manage implementation

• Shape business development by leading the evaluation of M&A and alliances

• Stay up to date and identify emerging business & partnership opportunities and industry trends 

• Demonstrate curiosity in natural and sustainable products to help drive our team’s innovation and competitive understanding across categories

• Evangelize and socialize opportunities to key internal stakeholders including but not limited to: presentations, internal communications and business cases

• Anticipates needs and trends that support the business and the Honest mission

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking or consumer packaged goods (CPG) marketing or strategy

• Strong analytic skills to support data-driven decision making and perform rigorous financial analysis

• Strong communications skills; articulate, robust writing, speaking and presentation-building skills, strong interpersonal skills, and solid cross functional skills

• Detail oriented, with strong organizational and project management skills

• Professional interest/curiosity in Honest’s mission, natural products and sustainability

• Strong teamwork skills; ability to assist with projects and work with interdepartmental functions to achieve project completion in a smooth and timely manner

• Motivated self-starter and be able to work without daily guidance

• Experience and comfort with preparing for and presenting to internal stakeholders and external partners

• Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-energy environment

• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Management Consulting background

• Experience in eCommerce and/or Strategy and Business Development

• Experience in the consumer goods industry

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $66,000 to $91,000. Actual compensation is based on many factors including but not limited to depth of experience, skill level, ability, knowledge, education, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. 

The total rewards package for this position may also include base, annual incentive plan, benefits, retirement plan, equity, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
