Structural/Mechanical Fitter/Welder

Job Title:Structural Fitter – 1st Class Pay Range:$29–32/hour Location:Jacksonville, FL Contract Type:Contract-to-Hire Schedule: • Monday–Thursday: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM • Friday: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM Job Overview We’re seeking experienced structural fitters for an exciting contract-to-hire opportunity in Jacksonville. You’ll be working on large industrial projects, interpreting blueprints, measuring and prepping steel components, and ensuring fit-up accuracy for structural assembly. Candidates must be able to pass a blueprint-based structural fitting test with an 85% or higher. Required Skills • 5+ years of industrial or structural fitting experience • Proficiency in structural layout and blueprint reading • Ability to pass a structural fitting test (includes blueprint math and weld symbol questions) • Familiarity with torch cutting, grinding, plasma cutting, and power tool use • Comfortable working full time and occasional weekends Preferred Skills • Prior experience in shipyard or heavy industrial environments • Experience preparing for ISO 9001 audits • Vocational or technical training in structural welding or fitting Education & Requirements • High school diploma or GED required • Must be able to use calculator or phone for blueprint math • Must be physically qualified to wear PPE and perform in a hands-on setting Key Responsibilities • Read and interpret structural blueprints, including weld symbols and layout instructions • Perform layout and fitting using center-to-center measurements, fractions, and decimals • Fit and tack components like HSS box tubing, angle iron, W-members, and flat plate • Use grinders, air arc, plasma cutters, power saws, and hand tools to prep weld surfaces • Work to true/plumb/square tolerances • Collaborate with team leads to complete jobs safely and on time • May be responsible for directing and monitoring helpers on the job site Ready to join a high-performing team and make an impact from day one?Apply now — multiple positions available and we're moving fast! #AJ1 Job Types: Full-time, Contract Pay: From $29.00 per hour Benefits: • 401(k) • Dental insurance • Health insurance Shift: • Day shift • Evening shift People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply Work Location: In person
