Job Description
Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs diagnostic xโray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses xโray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2. *Performs all types of diagnostic xโray procedures to include radiography of chest, extremities, skull and sinus, spine, ankle and foot, and abdomen. Practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
3. *Uses sterile technique as required.
4. *Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
5. *Competently operates all diagnostic xโray equipment and support systems to include, EMR, PACS and teleradiology.
6. *Utilizes department computer systems, files, EMR and PACS to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
7. *Properly cares for and images patients of all ages and maintains patient confidentiality.
8. *Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
9. *Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
10. Participates in the departments quality improvement plan as assigned.
11. *Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems.
12. *Keeps work area properly supplied.
13. *Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Currently enrolled in an accredited school of radiologic technology required. Valid Temporary State Medical Radiographer license required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
(DOT) Characterized as medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
