SUPERVISORY TRANSPORTATION OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

In accordance with DoD Instructions 1400.25 Volume 2005, veterans preference is not required to be applied when considering candidates with prior Federal competitive or excepted service who have completed a probationary or trial period and have not been separated for cause. • Applicants selected from this announcement may be required to serve a two-year trial period.
• If selected, Federal employees currently serving in the competitive service must acknowledge that they will voluntarily leave the competitive service by accepting an offer of employment for a DCIPS excepted service positions.
• If selected, NON-DCIPS candidates must acknowledge in writing that the position they have been selected for is in the excepted service and covered by DCIPS.
• Selection under this appointment authority does not confer civil service competitive status.
• Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be performed 35% of the time.
• Subject to uncommon tour of duty to meet priority on emergency situations. May be called in on weekends and/or holidays and is subject to evening call back to handle all priorities and any emergency.
• May be required to drive 24 hours a day for extended period.
• Physical and concentrated effort is required in operating heavy cargo vehicles in adverse weather conditions, exposed to traffic hazards, congested freeways in areas where maneuverability is difficult.
• Exposure to noise, vibration and engine fumes.
• May be exposed to danger of injury from falling objects during loading and unloading of vehicles.
• Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Agency's interest.
• Relocation and/or Recruitment incentive may be authorized if determined by the Hiring Manager to be in the best interest of the Agency.
