System Engineer

Reports to: IT Engineering Manager

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced System Engineer to join our dynamic IT Engineering team. You will play a key role in planning, researching, designing, implementing, and managing our IT stack, ensuring high availability, security, and performance for our end users.

We are looking for someone who is a self-starter with the right experience to manage our technology stack and is motivated to learn new technologies.

We leverage best-in-class tools for secure access, seamless collaboration, and efficient workflows, including Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Workato, 1Password, VMware vSphere, Kandji, WorkspaceONE, Jira, Confluence, and industry-leading networking solutions from Juniper and Palo Alto Networks.

What you’ll do

Innovation and Design:

• Lead technical projects, research solutions for new business needs and operational improvements, and perform proof-of-concepts.
• Design, implement, and optimize SaaS applications, infrastructure components, and automation solutions.
• Contribute to the definition and evolution of the IT technology stack.

Operate and Maintain:

• Proactively monitor and manage the health and performance of infrastructure components, applications, and services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, escalating as needed.
• Ensure adherence to IT policies, security best practices, and regulatory compliance.

Automate and Improve:

• Develop and implement automation scripts to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and propose solutions for optimizing the IT environment.
• Share knowledge and expertise through technical documentation and training sessions.

Collaborate and Lead:

• Work effectively with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to achieve project goals.
• Lead small teams, initiatives, or projects as needed.
• Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture within the IT team.

What you’ll bring

• Experience as an Infrastructure or Systems Engineer in an enterprise IT or Infrastructure Engineering environment.

Proficiency in:

• Operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)
• Virtualization (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V)
• Cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• SSO and Identity and Access Management (IAM): Okta, Jumpcloud
• Scripting languages (Python, Bash, Powershell)
• Backup and Disaster Recovery practices
• High Availability concepts
• Networking concepts (DNS, DHCP,  VLANs, Routing)
• Documentation and reporting practices
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
• Incident, change, problem, and service Management methodologies
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive and self-motivated with a drive to learn and adapt to new technologies

Good to have

• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Collaboration tools (Google Workspace, Slack)
• Endpoint Management Platforms: Kandji, WorkspaceONE, Intune
• Technical certifications (CCNP, CISSP, VCP)
• Knowledge of network protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, SMTP and experience in operating network switches, configuring firewall policies, tunneling, and routing
