NetherRealm Studios, a leading video game developer is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join their Game Technology Services Team.

The Daily
Responsible for addressing the specific needs of game development and ensuring that all systems are running optimally.
Leads the engineering and development of innovative technologies and best practices for internal and external hosting of AWS and VMWare systems in support of strategic plans, roadmap, and system and game development lifecycle management. Implements complex and comprehensive solutions related to performance, availability of systems and security
Provides maintenance, management, and support of current On-Prem and Cloud infrastructure. Manages vendor relationship and performance pertaining to engineering, design, technology roadmap and system optimization.
Collaborate with the game development software engineers to improve supportability, stability, and robustness of custom server software and infrastructure
Provides leadership and execution of initiatives related to capacity and planning, high availability and overall hosting security standards
The Essentials

  • Proficient in operating within a Linux/Unix environment (RedHat, Amazon Linux, etc.).
  • Experienced with configuration and management of complex environments running on Cloud platforms ( AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • SaaS administration experience, including identity management (OKTA, AWS IAM, SSO), troubleshooting and vendor engagement.
  • Demonstrate the ability to efficiently utilize system monitoring tools such as Datadog and Solarwinds for effective performance monitoring and automated testing.
  • Experience with automation/configuration management (e.g., Ansible, AWS Cloud Formation and Terraform).
  • Able to read and write scripts in Python, Bash, PowerShell or some other administrative language.
  • DevOps toolchain and concepts, particularly configuration and monitoring (e.g., TeamCity, GitHub Actions, Containers / Kubernetes).
  • Experienced in design, implementation, and systems capacity planning (NetApp, Cisco USC, and VMware).
  • An understanding of network technologies including firewalls, content filters, routing/switching, VLANs, and wireless.
  • An understanding of and an interest in emerging technologies and industry standards.
  • Solid understanding of virtual and physical network, storage, and security concepts and practices.
  • Capable of designing, implementing, and supporting automated tools and processes to enhance infrastructure visibility and supportability.
  • Experienced with Version Control software (e.g Perforce, Git)
  • Working knowledge of core Internet Protocols and services (e.g., IP, TCP, UDP, NTP, DNS, SNMP, HTTP, SMTP, SSH, SMB, NFS, syslog) required.
  • Strong technical skill set and ability to learn innovative technologies quickly.


The Nice To Haves

  • Previous game development support is a plus.
  • Self-starter and ability to work without supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to describe in detail the steps and approach taken to complete your tasks.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Windows OS (including Windows 2016/2019 servers) within a mixed environment.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of Microsoft products including but not limited to: Active Directory, Microsoft Configuration Manager, PowerShell, Exchange, and Office 365.
