The Systems Architect is responsible for providing the lead technical role for the development of new customer specific product developments as well as supporting the evaluation of new technical advancements of the product portfolio, for eAxles. Responsible for developing concepts/designs and developing into specific applications for primarily driven beam axles and in some cases 3-in-1 drive unit systems for the North American electrified product portfolio. They will work closely with the North American Product Engineering Team and ensure constant communication between the cross functional team. The engineer will have a strong vehicle understanding, specifically around electrified powertrains, beam axles and drivelines. Vehicle axle design, simulation, and development experience through to production is extremely important in this role. Works closely with Sales, Product Management, OEM advanced engineering, and the cross functional engineering team. Must have demonstrated ability to deliver creative solutions within the automotive applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, Responsible for new product concepts and advancement of product portfolio for axles and drivelines for North American electrified products. • Responsible for guiding the engineering team on axle and driveline development along with system level integration of eDrives. • Responsible for leading programs from concepts for "Acquisition Projects" all the way to launch of beam axles for electrified powertrains.• Responsible for breaking down the system requirements to component level (beam axle/gearbox, eMotor, and inverter).• Collaborates with other team members to develop the concept, Package 3D models, detailed design, simulation, DFMEA, and DVP for a beam axle.• Develop concepts according to product portfolio roadmap and analyze for feasibility. • Guide and collaborate with functional organization for product concept and Core Technologies development. • Lead system for Customer Application Design, Development, Release, and problem resolution for new and existing electrification products. • Guides other team members for carrying out tasks of detailed designs, drawings, assembly, and test that are in different Magna Powertrain locations within North America, and Europe.• Cascade of specifications from system to components and delivery of product designs to the specifications. • Participate in the research and analysis of competitor products, and other product offerings in the electrification space.

Requirements and Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering required, Master of Science Preferred. • Automotive beam axle development experience is required.• Experience with eDrive product development projects is required. • Minimum seven (7) years related work experience required; experience in axle development and system level integration of a beam axle required. eAxle experience strongly preferred.• Strong organizational/communication skills to effectively work within Departments. • Excellent axle structure, drivetrain and differential knowledge and experience. • External and internal contacts with high degree of diplomacy, judgment and possess ability to deal with and effectively influence persons in all types of positions. • High level of analytical ability, understanding of engineering theory, and principles of design.
