This position provides the leadership, planning, and direction to the Enterprise Command and Control (C2) element within the Space Operations directorate and the Space Enterprise and Warfighting Division (SEWD). The role involves working closely with C2 leadership within HQ US Space Command (USSPACECOM), Combined Joint Task Force - Space Operations (CJTF-SO), HQ Space Operations Command (SpOC), and the Space Warfighting Analysis Center (SWAC) and ensuring comprehensive Aerospace support within resource constraints. The position must work closely within the larger SEWD and Space Operations directorate to ensure seamless and unified support across not only the customer listed above, but key interfaces with HQ US Space Force (USSF), Space Security and Defense Program, Space Training and Readiness Command, Space Systems Command (SSC) and other key Aerospace customers.
This position is in both in the Aerospace Colorado Springs facility, and USSPACECOM and Space Operations Command locations at Peterson AFB and other operating locations in the Colorado Springs area.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Providing technical counsel to HQ USSPACECOM, CJTF-SO and its operations centers, SpOC, SWAC and SSC's Space Systems Integration Office and C2 Technical Agent on all aspects of space from initial concept through intelligence needs, force requirements, enterprise integration, and operations - leading an Aerospace team to seamlessly integrate with other USSPACECOM and USSF elements.
  • Provide technical assessments based upon analysis, data, strategic planning, and comprehensive risk identification to enable government decisions that are fully informed by risk and impact(s)
  • Leading independent technical assessments as required
  • Providing resource loaded plans to ensure Aerospace work products are properly scoped and executed within budget
  • Ensuring timely and quality reporting within Aerospace, to customers, including periodic written status updates, and other products as needed
  • Being a leader of, and an individual contributor to, specific tasks
  • Striving for unity of effort and coherency among any related Aerospace efforts
  • Hiring and developing staff, including cultivating Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) and other reach-back from across the Corporation, to support current and future needs
  • Managing direct reports and providing feedback on their performance
  • Coordinating with other members of the SEWD leadership team

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • B.S. in engineering, physics, mathematics or related experience applicable to the position with at least fifteen years of applicable space operations experience, is required.
  • 12 or more years of progressively responsible professional engineering/scientific experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams of engineers on multiple simultaneous efforts
  • A strong technical background and experience in operations, systems engineering, testing, fielding and operations from a range of perspectives and domains
  • Demonstrated and exceptional interpersonal, teambuilding, strategic, leadership and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of (including very senior) Government, Aerospace, and contractor personnel
  • Experience working with the US Space Command, US Space Force, and NRO
  • Experience with requirements development and Joint Capabilities Integration and Development (JCIDS) process at the Combatant Command level
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to work in the office, this position is not compatible with telecommuting
  • Periodic travel is required
  • This position requires a current TS-SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of the following:
  • Advanced engineering or technical degree
  • Current knowledge of Command and Control (C2) and Space Control system technologies, capabilities, acquisition, and an understanding of space and ground systems development.
  • Experience leveraging matrixed employees to provide expertise for space systems development
  • Deep technical and joint operations experience with one or more specific USSPACECOM and space operations capability area
  • Familiarity with joint and space operational planning processes to include background as a space operator with space operations center or equivalent operations center experience is required.
  • Demonstrated success in directly interfacing with senior government leadership of varying backgrounds
  • Extensive experience with one or more space system development program offices
  • Experience with DoD end to end acquisition approaches
  • Experience working with the USSPACECOM, Space Security and Defense Program, US Space Force, and NRO customers
  • Knowledge of man-made threats to space systems
  • Current Special Access Program (SAP) accesses

$117,027 - $192,281 - $267,534
