TITLE: Technical Service Analyst (TSA)DEPARTMENT: Global Service and SupportREPORTING TO: Central Technical Service ManagerTYPE: Full - time, Remote
Overview

Provide installation services and technical support for IPC’s advanced server/network & cloud based communication products in a fast paced demanding environment servicing the financial community. This individual will have experience in the installation and troubleshooting of server & networking technologies (Cisco, etc) as well as knowledge of telecommunications is a must; knowledge of databases and operating systems is beneficial. PBX and compliance experience is also beneficial. Flexible work schedule is a requirement, must be able to travel, work nights and weekends.

Job Responsibilities

This role is primarily a field-based role whereby the Systems Engineer performs trouble shooting, system changes as well as the installation of IPC server based telecommunications products and networks at customer sites. Many of these activities are after business hours and on weekends. Most of these customer sites are in the greater Toronto and surrounding area as well as Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver. Travel outside of Toronto and surrounding area is occasional however is a job requirement.

Primary technologies the Systems Engineer will be interacting with are:


o Dell / Intel servers
o VMWare/Virtual environments
o Cloud SaaS
o Linux Operating System
o Oracle OCCASS Application Server (formerly BEA WebLogic)
o Oracle Databases
o SIP based telecommunication applications
o 3rd party applications e.g. from Audio Codes
o Cisco networking technologies
o Interfacing to PBX via SIP or QSIG. PBX’s such as Avaya, Nortel, and Cisco


• In addition, the Systems Engineer will work closely with the Advanced Systems Group (ASG) to aide with 2nd level support from other IPC offices as needed

• Willing to travel as required
• On call duties on weekends, holidays and evenings

Experience and Skills Requirements

Required


• Should have a strong understanding of VoIP and network topologies

o Understand VOIP technology - QOS (Quality of Service) Major components of the VoIP network- Voice packetization- Voice quality- Bandwidth- Traffic convergence issues- VoIP standardization and protocol-Network assessment

• Understanding of networking concept, including WAN / LAN/ ATM technology.
• Wireshark and Cisco packet capture tools, bandwidth testing tools, and SNMP
• Excellent verbal communication, technical writing/drawing and organizational skills
• Domains / Workgroups, and User accounts and Services
• DHCP / DNS / NTP
• Basic understanding of telephony- T-1, DS3, DSO, ARD’s, 4 wire-Hoot’s, Channel Banks,
• In depth understanding of cabling, building risers, fiber optics, patch panels, Cat 6 , 12 Pair, plus color codes
• Understanding of Cloud computing concepts including SaaS Preferred
• Any IT Certifications in the following areas is beneficial:
o SIP
o Operating Systems (Microsoft, Linux)
o Servers (Server+, etc)
o Networking (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, etc.)
o Databases (My SQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL)

• PBX knowledge a plus (Avaya, Nortel, Cisco Call Manager, etc.)
• Compliance/recording technologies Education 2 year college degree; BS/BA from an accredited university preferred and/or equivalent work experience (5+ years as an engineer in the IT industry)
