We are looking for a Systems Engineer I to join our talented group engineers and make a significant impact on our cutting-edge technology solutions!
JOB SUMMARY
The Systems Engineer I will be performing project work supporting various client sites primarily in the states of Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The Systems Engineers are responsible for the installation, support, maintenance, monitoring, and tuning of a multitude of infrastructure devices encompassing all infrastructure hardware, and software. System Engineer Is are expected to be well-versed in multiple technologies. These individuals will be a "hands on" mentor to other support staff.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategy & Planning
- Collaborate with client management and department leaders to assess near and long-term infrastructure needs
- Create and maintain internal documentation as it relates to infrastructure configuration, network mapping, processes, and disaster recovery
- Proactively improve processes and eliminate waste & inefficiency
- Team Mentoring
- Supporting the team to success in achieving stated objectives
- Provide support staff with advanced technical knowledge
- Provide cross-training support to other technical staff
- Understanding of organizational impact from project tasks
- Act as a point of escalation
- Acquisition & Deployment
- Assist with the design and deployment of customer's infrastructure
- Conduct research on products, services, and standards to remain knowledgeable of developments in the Managed Services industry
- Oversee new and existing hardware and software upgrades for client infrastructure
- Operational Management
- Collaborate with the Sales team and clients to determine needs and develop scopes of work
- Effectively complete projects/assignments to configure networks that ensure smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes
- Participate with installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user hardware, software, and peripheral devices
- Build and deploy servers, both on-premise and cloud infrastructure
- Perform server vulnerability remediation and system backup and recovery
- Communicate project processes with clients, vendors, and team members to ensure minimal disruptions
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- 2 year degree in computer science, information systems, or a similar field or 3 years work experience as a Systems Engineer
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- 5 years work experience as a Systems Engineer
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in computer science or equivalent four year college technical degree
- Experience in virtualization, distributed file system, disaster recovery and backup systems
- Experience in project management practices and principals
- Previous experience performing IT troubleshooting in a production environment
- Knowledge of Active Directory, group policy, DNS, DHCP, and current Windows Server editions and current Microsoft Exchange Server
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Administration, ADFS, Azure AD Sync
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Certifications (Microsoft 365 and Azure)
- VMWare
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience with infrastructure security principles and general infrastructure management best practices
- Advanced hardware and software troubleshooting experience
- Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly manner
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to effectively work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Maintain a good driving record
- This position requires driving regularly
- This position requires infrequent travel throughout the Midwest with the possibility of overnight stays
- Must live within daily commuting distance of one of the EO Johnson office locations
