Technical Product Owner
The SRE Team at AvidXchange inspire and enable our internal product, engineering, and service delivery teams to provide our customers superior product reliability at scale. To do that, we provide platforms and services that empower teams to observe, automate, and continuously optimize the operations of their products.
As a Technical Product Owner , you have a passion for delivering product that solves customer problems. The Technical Product Owner is responsible for driving the SRE vision and engages in a continuous cycle of user engagement (with our engineers) and a prioritization methodology that ensures we're always focusing on the outcomes that deliver the most value. SRE definition of value is fluid, and we are always trying to balance between reliability and development velocity.
You will guide your teams through clear vision, roadmaps, prioritized backlogs, user personas, user scenarios, feature, and user story writing. You will be working daily with users, stakeholders, and engineers within an Agile environment to solve key friction points by leveraging DevOps inspired practices, culture, and technology.
To achieve these goals, you will utilize excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong relationship-building skills, ability to think strategically and analytically, ability to pragmatically resolve conflicts, and a passion for emerging technologies
Job Responsibilities
- Partnering with engineering, product and Architect leads to build product roadmaps for SRE.
- Creating a long-term strategy for observability and tooling investments, including managing vendor relationships
- Implementing and maintaining Service-Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service-Level Objectives (SLOs)
- Creating profiles of users (software engineers) and ensuring SRE's products addresses their needs
- Championing reliability ownership across non-SRE teams and enabling them to account for & track reliability of the services they're responsible for
- Owning the vision and strategy for: incident management, disaster recovery, performance testing, chaos engineering, etc.
- Be the single point of accountability for owning the success of your technical capability by driving the team to deliver valuable solutions for stakeholders.
- Own the delivery of the Technical capabilities roadmap in the SRE transformation at AvidXchange.
- Form relationships, collaborate, and learn from stakeholders about their friction points related to existing products as well as gaps in existing offerings.
- Drive the team to deliver on user stories that represent valuable features and solutions for stakeholders.
- Continuously take feedback and incorporate it into feature backlog, roadmap, and vision iterations.
- Measure the success of your vision, roadmap, and backlog in terms of the value provided and iteratively review these measurements.
- Own the delivery of the Technical capabilities roadmap in the SRE Organization at AvidXchange
- Mentor other Technical Product Owners based on your experience and expertise in the role.
Required Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
- 3 or more years of demonstrated technical product management, technical project management, business analyst or engineering experience
- Excellent technical understanding to navigate technical discussions and translate stakeholder needs into a solid vision, roadmap, and backlog. While this is not a coding job you must be able to effectively communicate with developers as they are an important stakeholder.
- Must be intellectually curious and detail oriented to analyze and synthesize data across multiple stakeholders with multiple perspectives as input to sound decision making.
- An understanding of agile product methodologies and how to apply them to real world situations.
- Requires a University Degree or equivalent experience including the study of Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or Business Administration
- Experience in building DevOps, SRE or platform solutions, defining services and applications
- Experience with Azure Dev-ops (TFS), Jira, Rally, or similar planning & development tool
Preferred Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
- Strong technical understanding to navigate technical discussions and translate client and business needs into solid requirements
- Demonstrated track record of developing creative solutions in product, process or policy that delivered business results
- Strong attention to detail including precise and effective communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
- Proven analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases
- Superior verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to clearly communicate user experience issues and service specifications to both business and technical audience using requirements documents, use cases and desired outcomes
- Skilled at working with cross-functional groups and matrix organizations in multiple geographies to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Thrives in an environment of continuous change and complexity - can drive quality insights and deliver high impact projects
- "Can do" attitude, team player, fun, energetic personality, works well under pressure
- Successfully negotiates and defends his or her position.
- Previous application development experience
- An understanding of agile product methodologies and how to apply them to real world situations
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact and influence at various levels of the organization
- Demonstrable track record of partnering with cross-functional teams to achieve critical business initiatives • Experience working with remote, geographically distributed teams, and senior leaders
- B2B and/or FinTech experience
