- Knowledge of IV medications required
- Experience required: PIV starts, port access/de-access, NG tubes, chest tube care, foley catheters, wound care, care of the patient with PICC lines, care of the patient with venous access ports.

- Schedule Information
- Shift: Days, 6a-6p, EOW
- Notate block scheduling requests in body of submittal. Can be accommodated but may not always be guaranteed.
- Unit Specific Information
- The Medical Surgical Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN) holds shift accountability for providing delegated aspects of direct patient care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- The LPN/LVN demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership in the anticipation and planning for safe delivery of care; maintains clinical competencies through continuing education; delegates patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the staff available; provides direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.
- Additional Details
- Facility size: 93 beds
- Number of beds on unit: 2 med/surg units (3rd floor has 12 beds and 4th floor has 21 beds)
- Facility is designated as a Level III trauma center, Acute Ready Stroke Center and a chest pain/STEMI center.
- Patient Ratio: 1:5 (acuity based), ratios can go up to 1:6 with swing patients
- LPNs are utilized to the fullest scope of their license in the State of Missouri. RNs supervise LPNs.
- Teaching facility: frequently have nursing students, medical students, interns and residents on the med/surg unit.
- All nurses are required to float when needed and perform tasks on unit floated to.
- Agency and permanent staff go into the same float rotation.
- PCTs are utilized.
- MedHost is the EMR
- Omnicell is the Medication Administration Cabinet.
