    Schedule Information
  • Shift: Days, 6a-6p, EOW
  • Notate block scheduling requests in body of submittal. Can be accommodated but may not always be guaranteed.
    Unit Specific Information
  • The Medical Surgical Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN) holds shift accountability for providing delegated aspects of direct patient care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • The LPN/LVN demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership in the anticipation and planning for safe delivery of care; maintains clinical competencies through continuing education; delegates patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the staff available; provides direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.
    Additional Details
  • Facility size: 93 beds
  • Number of beds on unit: 2 med/surg units (3rd floor has 12 beds and 4th floor has 21 beds)
  • Facility is designated as a Level III trauma center, Acute Ready Stroke Center and a chest pain/STEMI center.
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5 (acuity based), ratios can go up to 1:6 with swing patients
  • LPNs are utilized to the fullest scope of their license in the State of Missouri. RNs supervise LPNs.
  • Teaching facility: frequently have nursing students, medical students, interns and residents on the med/surg unit.
  • All nurses are required to float when needed and perform tasks on unit floated to.
  • Agency and permanent staff go into the same float rotation.
  • PCTs are utilized.
  • MedHost is the EMR
  • Omnicell is the Medication Administration Cabinet.
