TalentBurst, Inc is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  1. BLS and ACLS required via AHA
  2. RN License in state of employment or compact
  3. Current certification from NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or one of the following AWHONN courses: Intermediate FHM, Intermediate FHM Instructor, Advanced FHM Instructor, or Instructor Trainer at the time of hire for experienced nurses.
  4. Current STABLE (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) certification from one of the following courses: Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor at the time of hire for experienced nurses.
  5. Current NRP certification

Experience

  1. Perinatal RN Residency, or recently practicing in a Perinatal Setting is preferred.

Weekend Requirement:

6 weekend shifts per 6 week schedule

On Call Requirement: We do not require agency RN's to take call unless they would like to volunteer for call Floating Requirement / Locations: None

Summary:

The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Meets expectations of the applicable One*** Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  2. Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation for assigned patients.
  3. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patient and families in accordance with their level of practice.
  4. Using the appropriate protocol, administers medications and treatments; monitors for side-effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
  5. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
  6. Assess learning needs and provides education to patients, family members and/or care givers; identify issues and resources.

  1. Uses critical thinking skills to assess the basic physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and development needs of patient and families
  2. Communicates findings to appropriate healthcare team members

  4. Implements patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitors and documents progression of treatment and teaching goals

Standard II. Patient Throughput & Patient Flow Process

  1. Anticipates and plans for admission/discharge/transfer needs to facilitate patient flow
  2. Utilizes appropriate systems of communication and tools to facilitate the discharge process
  3. Coaches on tools and techniques for checking, cross checking and validating orders to ensure accuracy

Standard III. Unit Operations

  1. Plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit during an assigned shift
  2. Demonstrates good stewardship in proper use and maintenance of equipment and Supplies
  3. Assesses departmental staffing needs; actively participates in resourcing efforts.
  4. Educates and trains others on the operations, ethics, and regulations within the industry

Standard IV. Safe Practice/Quality Care/Regulations

  1. Incorporates patient safety practices/guidelines to promote a safe environment resulting in positive patient outcomes
  2. Demonstrates accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities
  3. Provides evidence-based nursing care
  4. Communicates patient information effectively across the continuum of care
  5. Educates and trains others on the operations, ethics, and regulations within the industry
  6. Knowledge of federal, state and local healthcare-related laws and regulations; ability to comply with these in healthcare practices and activities

  5. Transcribes verbal orders; explains techniques for ensuring their accuracy
  6. Explains health information documentation best practices and their rationale across health care practices
