What you’ll do:

Promote and build strong working relationships with Other States Insurance program carriers. Provide subject matter expertise and systems integration expertise for Pinnacol team members. Demonstrate support for new and renewal business. Ensure compliance with state rules and regulations. Timely processing of policy documentation. Investigate and resolve errors.

What you can expect:

  • With little supervision, apply the principles of workers’ compensation through knowledge of the out-of-state manual to analyze and complete various out-of-state tasks including but not limited to quotes, audits, renewals, criticisms, and policy endorsements.
  • Serve as coordinator to centralize all out-of-state underwriting activities, providing program expertise and support to Underwriters to ensure accurate and complete documentation is in place for coverage.
  • Follows-up via telephone calls/correspondence within established departmental guidelines to obtain needed information for completing applications, renewing policies, etc. Recognizes out-of-state coverage policy discrepancies, research, and notifies appropriate personnel. May provide subject matter expert insights on the path toward correction of policy discrepancies to ensure state and regulatory compliance. 
  • Recognizes payroll discrepancies against 2nd source tie-in and follow-ups to ensure accuracy. Serve as a source of truth for national critical errors (CRITS). 
  • Enters completed OSC quotes into the on-line computer system to create policies. Updates osc coverage manual and partners in training of OSC Underwriters. 
  • Providers management with periodic status reports on OSC coverage issues. Works with Finance Department to address any billing issues. Prepares monthly Athena reports outlining premium and billing status. 
  • Partner with program leadership to drive toward strategic goals. Provide analysis of program performance and opportunities. Offer solutions for improvement in areas of opportunity.

What you need to be successful:

  • Demonstrates a substantial working knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act. Has general insurance industry knowledge and is familiar with broker relationships, and competitors. Requires decision making while applying/interpreting workers’ compensation laws, rules, regulations and procedures. Requires completion of Pinnacol Assurance Underwriter Training program.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Professional telephone skills and techniques. 
  • Ability to handle difficult situations in a professional, courteous manner. 
  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency in the use of personal computers, Google applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides), and the internet (e-mail and web browsing). Minimum 35 wpm typing requirement and spreadsheet skills, experience in management reporting desired. 
  • Analytical skills 
  • Understanding of basic accounting and mathematics. 
  • Detail oriented with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks with detailed follow-up and minimal supervisory direction. 
  • Ability to read, input, comprehend and communicate on-line data. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of Pinnacol internal workflow processes with a solid overview knowledge of all key areas/functions within Pinnacol.
  • Ability to respond to complex customer issues requiring strong problem resolution skills and a broad knowledge base. 
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have a minimum of two years general office experience to include one year of workers’ compensation insurance/underwriting experience.

The compensation amount for this role is targeted at $50,750-$53,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including your experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
