Union Locating Technician (Laborer)

Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. is seeking a talented, responsible, and self-reliant individual to hold a full-time position as a concrete scanning and utility locating technician. This position will be responsible for tasks including locating, marking out all utility locations, updating plans, and maintaining accurate logs or drawings. This position requires extensive travel and drive time throughout the SF Bay Area, so you must be familiar and comfortable with driving in high-traffic areas and have a clean driving record. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Locating buried utilities and objects embedded in concrete, including post tension cables, conduits, electrical lines, communication, storm drains, sewer, gas, and other buried or embedded objects. • Day-to-Day activities include working directly with job superintendents, foremen, operators, electricians, sawcutters, and other crew members to locate utilities and objects prior to excavation. • Understanding and editing project documents including site maps and plans using programs like PlanGrid, Autodesk, and/or HCSS. • Maintain job documentation, including filing accurate reports on findings, taking photographs, and photograph editing. • Ensure all safety requirements are being met. • Familiarity running a variety of equipment including but not limited to; all types of pipe and cable locating devices and understanding locating techniques. • Determine potential challenges and hazards on projects and coordinate with superintendents/ foreman. • Report findings to the onsite Foreman, Operator, and/or Superintendent. • Perform data entry to maintain accurate logs, records, and basic written reports of work performed - must be able to navigate through our system using an iPhone and iPad. NOTE:These duties listed are meant to describe the general scope of the work. Other duties may be assigned based on business needs within the organization. SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY • High School Diploma or GED equivalent • Valid Class C Drivers License. Clean Driving Record. • Bilingual in both English and Spanish is a plus. • 2 years of experience with concrete scanning, post-tension cable certification, or equivalent on the job experience. • 2 years experience locating underground utilities, utility placement, and knowledge of utility depths. • Knowledge of PlanGrid, Autodesk, and/or HCSS is a plus. • Ability to use a smartphone and tablet. • Preferable experience using the following systems: • • Vivax Metrotech Vloc3 Pro Induction and Conduction locating • GSSI SIR 4000 Push Cart GPR • GSSI MIni XT Concrete Structure Scanner • Sondes • Duct Hunters • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions. • Excellent communication and customer service skills. • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures. • Highly organized, with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to work collaboratively with team members by prioritizing tasks and assist team members when needed. • Ability to work independently when needed and troubleshoot when issues or questions arise. • Shows a passion for service excellence with the energy and desire to make a positive impact in the organization. • Familiar with Microsoft Outlook. OTHER: • Ability to work overtime on an as-needed basis. • Ability to work on construction projects in both standard and high-risk areas.
