Role Description
The VP of Clinical Support is a critical leader at Oak Street Health. They champion the organization's mission to provide high quality and safe care to patients by crafting the strategy, leading teams, and driving results around our RN/MA/Phlebotomy and patient safety programs. This will involve the development, enrichment and implementation of roles, responsibilities, and workflows for our clinical team members (RNs/MAs/phlebotomists), as well as strategic oversight to align our clinical team members' contributions and performance to organizational-wide needs. Empowering our clinical team members with effective, productive, and rewarding roles supports Oak Street's patient- focused priorities to deliver on an unmatched patient experience, reduce admissions and medical costs, and strengthen patient engagement. Success in this role requires excellent leadership capabilities and judgment, a skillful ability to collaborate across the organization, solve complex problems, deliver results, and navigate a high level of ambiguity.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of the vision and strategic needs of the nursing cohort, in alignment with our Executive & Senior Medical Directors and field leaders (Division Presidents, Regional Vice Presidents).
  • Build and lead multiple teams of different scopes to execute against the above strategic needs for the nursing program, including RN/MA/Phlebotomy and patient safety.
  • Evolve our central and local nursing leadership structures to keep pace with our organizational progression.
  • Strategically shape the role profile, job duties, and key workflows for our Registered Nurse, Medical Assistant, and Phlebotomists to support direct and indirect program development.
  • In partnership with medical and administrative leaders, structure the job duties of our clinical team members to align with the Oak Street care model to provide the highest impact to patient outcomes, while maximizing team member contribution through "top-of-license" work.
  • In partnership with medical leaders, population health and care teams, develop and implement an intervention-led nursing that aligns with the Oak Street care model and produces measurable results.
  • Reinforce disease management, prevention-focused care through nurse visits, educational sessions, in center testing, telephonic triage, and refill support.
  • Identify and implement best practices for patient care delivery within the RN, MA, and phlebotomy roles through evidence-based and Oak Street specific standards.
  • Partner with regional leadership, in-clinic care team members, and the central learning and development team to improve upon our clinical onboarding and ongoing training program for RNs, MAs, and Phlebotomists.
  • Provide strategic oversight to align clinical care team contributions and performance to organizational needs.
  • Provide clear direction to improve retention and recruitment of clinical team roles including geographically & expansion minded approaches that can sustain our growth.
  • Define standards of high performance for clinical team roles within the Oak Street care model, measure our performance and partner with leaders to improve where needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This role reports to the Sr Vice President of Clinical Quality.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse
  • Bachelor degree in nursing; Advanced degree strongly preferred
  • 5 or more years of healthcare experience working as an RN, preferably in a primary care office or other outpatient setting
  • 7 or more years of demonstrated success in a leadership role
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation
  • US work authorization
