Visual Designer II - Esports R&D

We’re looking for passionate, innovative individuals with a keen eye and ear for fan behaviors who are ready to help us tackle Riot’s high-priority focus on Unleashing Fandom and Reinventing the Watch Experience for fans across the globe! As player-focused Visual Designers at Riot, we are responsible for design work in high-scope product areas that are complex and ambiguous. Our work includes visual problem-solving, often spanning multiple features and teams. We work from concept through development, participate in agile product development, and partner closely with UX Design, Research, Product, and Engineering to achieve our goals. 

You will be a part of the visual design team and deliver high-quality interfaces and solutions across digital products. Your craft expertise and high-level execution will shape a cohesive and exciting vision for Riot Esports fans, including individual products like our core web experience and cross-platform features like fandom progression. You will contribute to the brand for Riot Esports. 

You will be part of the Stadium Team in Esports Tech R&D, reporting to the Visual Design Manager.

• Designing esports fan-focused experiences for web products
• Partnering closely with UX design and Product Management to develop and concept products to address fan needs
• Partnering closely with engineering to create and iterate on well crafted user experiences
• Flexible and comfortable with ambiguity and change during a project
• Managing multiple stakeholders and presenting concepts to senior leadership
• Advocating for UI consistency with designers, engineers, product managers, and executives through writing, visuals, and presentations
• Channeling broader design vision and articulating product design strategy via visual artifacts
• Contribute to and participate in design system maintenance

• 3+ years experience designing digital experiences, products, and platforms
• Experience with industry standard design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, etc)
• Experience designing and releasing consumer web experiences (responsive desktop + mobile)
• A professional portfolio with examples of your past work demonstrating design fundamentals (e.g. layout, composition, grids, typography) and an ability to design interfaces that meet both aesthetic and functional goals.

• Experience with Figma, including library management
• Familiarity with or experience designing web experiences for eCommerce, creator platforms, or the entertainment industry (movies, TV, video games, music, etc.)
• Familiarity with Riot IP and universe
• Experience with brand development fundamentals
