VoIP Specialist

SUMMARY

Maintain and support VoIP equipment including hardware, software, configuration and interconnection. Work with other groups to provide platform deployment, support, and testing. Troubleshoot and support customer equipment related to VoIP services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain and support Voice over IP equipment hardware, software, configuration, and interconnection including servers, routers, firewalls, gateways, session border controllers, and media servers.
• Work with other groups to resolve troubles (NIS, VoIP Support, Rock Hill, Lancaster Business Systems, and Network Remote).
• Second level VoIP support for Midlands, Brevard, and Springboard.
• Configure VoIP related peripherals for Springboard, Midlands, Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Lancaster, and Brevard.
• Voice Mail system operation, administration, and maintenance.
• Assist Digital Switching group when needed.
• Assist Engineering with VOIP related upgrades and patches.

REQUIREMENTS

• 2 year technical degree preferred
• Minimum 2 years telephone, electronic, and/or computer experience is required.
• Computer, Networking and VOIP troubleshooting skills; basic knowledge of IP/Packet analyzer utilities and the ability to interpret captures; basic knowledge of layer 2 / layer 3 networking; basic knowledge of VoIP protocols such as SIP, MGCP, M323, UDP and TCP; basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• VOIP and Networking certifications preferred
• Flexible hours required - overtime, night and weekend work as required by job demands.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and work in confined spaces
• Must be able to be on an "on call" duty rotation.
