Role Summary:

The VP of Marketing is a key leader responsible for building and running a best of breed marketing strategy and team. You will help meet Prefect's ambitious growth goals drive revenue by bringing Prefect into new enterprise markets. We are looking for a seasoned marketer with experience working with highly technical B2B products.

You will collaborate across Prefect's most senior leadership, including our CEO, CTO, COO, and SVP of Sales & Success, to hone Prefect's marketing strategy and achieve the company's biggest goals. You will set objectives for and further develop a crackerjack and lean team of marketing experts, while also being hands on when needed.

You will report to our COO, Sarah.


What You'll Do:

  • Strategic Marketing Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to support Prefect's ambitious growth goals.
  • Team Leadership: Build out and lead a high-performing marketing team. Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Messaging and Positioning: Articulate Prefect's unique value proposition to engineers and buyers. Refine personas, ICPs, customer segmentation, messaging, and positioning. Develop winning sales enablement content to support the sales process.
  • Lead Generation and Customer Acquisition: direct the team to build targeted lead generation campaigns and initiatives to fuel the enterprise sales motion. Collaborate with Sales to develop effective marketing programs that generate high-quality leads and contribute to revenue growth.
  • Category leadership: increase awareness of Prefect and our differentiators at the category level with press, analysts, and other influencers.
  • Digital Marketing: Oversee the digital marketing strategy, including SEO, SEM, email marketing, content marketing and social media, to maximize brand awareness, engagement and lead generation.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Establish KPIs and regularly analyze marketing performance. Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Be hands on and flexible: Have a hands-on approach to moving key marketing initiatives and deliverables forward in parallel with building your team. Be flexible and nimble in planning and execution, we're a startup and are developing and changing at a rapid pace.

Your Qualifications:

  • You've spent [8+] years working in marketing and have led a B2B marketing team
  • Proven experience working with a technical audience, ideally in the data space - you know how to develop and refine messaging for a highly technical audience
  • You've built a marketing engine that drove meaningful growth to your business, ideally minting leads or generating pipeline for a sales organization
  • You work successfully with cross functional teams and bring a team-first mentality to work
  • You understand all parts of a marketing funnel and can correctly measure impact to inform decision-making and optimize performance.
  • You have experience with efficient marketing ops backend systems and can assemble the best-of-breed tools to meet Prefect's business goals
  • You've built out winning, healthy teams
  • You're excited to work in a dynamic, fast paced startup environment and have experienced rapid company growth

The U.S. general salary range including base and variable pay for this full-time position is $203,000-$268,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and work location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Your recruiter can share more about the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please keep in mind that equity is not included in the range provided above and will represent a significant part of your total compensation. Benefits and any bonus or incentive compensation is also not included in the range provided above.
