Position Overview:
The VP of Talent Strategy will play a critical role in shaping and executing our organization's workforce strategy. This individual will lead a team responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives to optimize our workforce, ensuring alignment with our long-term business goals. As the company's workforce continues to evolve, the Vice President of Talent Strategy will be instrumental in driving organizational success through the definition of key skills for the future, understanding the implications of Generative AI and Automation on the workforce, linking build/buy/borrow strategies to enable business outcomes, and ensuring workforce management practices are conducive to future growth.
The VP, Talent Strategy will lead a team of 10-11, responsible for definition and implementation of our enterprise skills framework, workforce planning and management, and HR's role in mergers and acquisitions.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic workforce planning framework, informed by industry leading practices that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement a framework and technology to define future skill requirements, assess workforce gaps, and devise strategies to address talent shortages. Partner with the business, HR, Finance, and other relevant stakeholders to forecast workforce needs and develop workforce plans that ensure the organization's ability to meet changing business demands Source and implement technology solutions that assist in achieving objectives. Ensure solutions achieve ROI. Design necessary change management solutions to facilitate the necessary organizational buy-in, alignment, and adoption. Ensure appropriate framework is in place to integrate planned Mergers & Acquisitions that address critical skill and capability gaps for the organization. Responsible for defining and informing the enterprise strategic workforce management philosophy, including consistent and automated time and attendance practices and implementation of data-driven prediction of labor needs with optimized schedules to meet demands and engage/retain the best talent. Monitor and assess the impact of external factors and emerging workforce trends such as labor market conditions, regulatory changes, technological advancements, and industry best practices to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of strategic workforce planning. Provide guidance and mentorship to the strategic workforce planning team, fostering a culture of performance excellence and continuous learning and development.
Typical Minimum Qualifications
- 13+years professional/leadership experience in a related data discipline (e.g., Economics, Business, IO Psychology, Statistics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or relevant fields), with at least 6+ years' experience in leadership and consulting
Critical Skills
- Demonstrated success in roles that required strong cross-functional relationships and ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving/analytical skills; experience with storytelling with data
- Proven track record of creating a high-performance team culture setting aggressive goals and managing complex cross functional projects
- Strong business acumen and systems/process orientation
- Statistical or quantitative analysis (e.g., multiple regression, multivariate analysis, network analysis)
- Hands on experience with analytics tools including: Data wrangling (e.g., SQL), data visualization (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI), Agile practices (e.g., JIRA)
Additional Knowledge and Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Workday reporting and dashboards, Visier
- Knowledge of M&A process, including due diligence, deal structuring, integration planning, and execution

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
Our Base Pay Range for this position
$180,800 - $301,300
