  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must possess and maintain an appropriate Virginia State Water Treatment Plant Operator Claas I or II Certification by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.
  • Incumbent is required to work on a rotating shift basis 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • Work conditions require the employee to drive a government motor vehicle. The employee is required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Emergency recall and overtime may be required.
  • Must be able to safely and properly wear all personal protective equipment including respiratory protection (respirator) required of the trade/shop.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.
  • The position is subject for random drug testing
  • This position is key essential .

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to do the work of the position without normal supervision in monitoring and controlling the water treatment systems that includes chemical addition, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, chlorination, filtration, ph control and fuoridation, and maintain adequate potable water supplies for firefighting and personal use
