Job Summary:

Assist the Supervisor of the Wire Room with workflow by reviewing the related queues on BESS, prioritizing/delegating work to specialists and ensuring that all queues are resolved in a timely manner, coordinating the workflow within the Wire Room unit.

  • Prepare and type (COME) outgoing messages for dispatch in the BESS system on behalf of other departments as well as the Wire Room.
Verify outgoing messages (COMV) awaiting release.

  • Review daily checklist report completed prior to submitting to Management for review.
  • Prepare monthly reports within prescribed time frame.

  • Request to Tokyo establishment of SWIFT Relationship Management Agreement's (RMA).
Support Head Office initiative in the cleanup of the dormant RMAs. Advised PDA of all cancelled RMAs monthly

  • Primary contact person for other departments and branches with queries related to message processing issues, which include but are not limited to: (a) message formatting, (b) SWIFT and Tohnet messages inquiries, (c) currency codes.
  • Distribution of SWIFT broadcast messages.
  • Retrieval and filing of authorized signatures.
  • Log in all incoming fax US dollar payment applications on fax log and Faxwire ensuring all information provided is accurate.
Separate all currency fax payments, log and deliver them to Treasury Operations. Ensure proper delivery and authorize signer receives and signs for them.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Provide cross-training to the Wire Room staff to ensure that proper coverage is available.
  • Route incoming messages electronically to user departments and branches, ensuring messages are received within prescribed timeframe.
  • Print (break-out) incoming messages (ADMR) and distribute to intended areas.
  • Review and resolve undelivered/rejected (TEXC) messages.
  • Maintain and resolve any pending items (3rd party test, garbled messages, etc.).

Additional Information:
  • Fundamental understanding of payments formatting, including SWIFT, CHIPS, Fed wire, foreign currency principles.
  • Able to utilize internal & external resources required for the timely resolution of assigned cases.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records, facilitating management review.
  • Good oral and written communications skills;
  • Strong practical understanding of payment systems (preferable BESS).
  • 3 to 5 year experience in telex and SWIFT message processing.
  • Fundamental understanding of payments formatting, including SWIFT, CHIPS, Fed wire, foreign currency principles.
