Education EDUCATION MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AS FOLLOWS: FOR THE GS-04: Successful completion of two years of education above the high school level that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as physical science, engineering, or any branch of mathematics, except financial and commercial mathematics. FOR THE GS-05: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of physical science, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as physical science, engineering, or any branch of mathematics, except financial and commercial mathematics OR a combination of post high school education and specialized experience that equates to one year of experience. FOR THE GS-07: Successful completion of one year of graduate education that is directly related to the job being filled OR a combination of graduate education and specialized experience that equates to one year. FOR THE GS-09: Successful completion of two full years of graduate education or a master's degree that is directly related to the job being filled OR a combination of graduate education and specialized experience that equates to one year.
