You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. This position requires rotating shift work. Position requires to report for duty during natural disasters and other emergency situations as directed by the Fire Chief. Position requires wearing a uniform and safety apparel in accordance with established policies and procedures. Position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program. Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast and depth. in accordance with NFPA 1582 and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) standards. Requisite Firefighter Certifications for the position are published in DoDI 6055.6 FES. Certifications are determined based on application of the published DoDI commensurate with position mission-related duties. Qualifications This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Fighter I & II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Technician, Driver/Operator-Pumper, and Driver/Operator-ARFF, National Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification. These certifications must have been awarded by DOD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirements. Copies of certifications MUST be submitted at the time of application to verify eligibility. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations and driving and operating firefighting vehicles; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents; 5) Performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
