Job Description

Summary This position is located in the Food and Beverage Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as bartender, which mixes and serves a limited variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Incumbent is assigned to Admiral Kidd Catering & Conference Center. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment. Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation. Must walk or stand for prolonged periods of time. Uses dolly to transport beer kegs. Work schedule is flexible and will vary as required by the needs of the program to include night, weekend, and holiday shifts as well as split days off. May have or obtain and maintain the following certification within 90 days of hire: Food Handlers and/or C.A.R.E (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively). Frequent light to moderate lifting and carrying objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting up to and over 40 pounds. Must meet minimum state age requirements to prepare/serve alcohol. Qualifications The incumbent is required to have the knowledge and skill to mix and serve beverages. service. The incumbent must have the ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed. Knowledge of cash handling skills, ability to calculate and use basic arithmetic. Be able to follow written and oral instructions. Some pre-mixed beverages, such as daiquiris, are served; however, beverages of an exotic variety are also prepared. The incumbent must have knowledge of the correct proportions and mixtures to use in preparing beverages.
