Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a INSPECTIONS SPECIALIST (SUPERINTENDENT) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD2897000 and is part of the TN 164th AW, National Guard. This vacancy is not eligible for membership to a labor organization. Requirements Conditions of Employment NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment. This position requires a secret security clearance; the incumbent of this position must obtain and maintain a secret clearance. Work may require access to higher classified information. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. Individuals convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments. This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment. IAW AF guidance, incumbent must complete the wing Inspector General Training Course Inspections (IGTC-I) within 180 days of appointment; must complete Inspector General Training Course Complaints Resolution (IGTC-Q) within 180 days of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility. Qualifications Military Grades: E-7 (MSgt) - E-8 (SMSgt) Compatible Military Assignments: 8I000 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education, or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; knowledge of applicable laws, directives, regulations, policies, and procedures; skill in interpersonal communications, empathy, and effective listening; ability to organize thoughts, research materials, and manage case projects; skill in comprehending and interpreting directives and laws; ability to enunciate without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit effective communications; ability to write reports and presentation formats; and ability to communicate -orally and in writing- clearly and effectively. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 36 months or 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in conducting inspections, exercises and investigations where significant difficulties are encountered; ability to select, adapt, and apply investigation and negotiation techniques; interpret complex laws and regulations; ability to select, adapt, and apply inspection techniques; interpret complex laws and regulations; knowledge to develop different exercise scenarios based on Wing mission sets; knowledge to develop new approaches, methods, or procedures in data gathering and analysis techniques; ability to develop new approaches, methods, or procedures in data gathering and analysis techniques, recognizing and resolving discrepancies and/or inconsistencies among findings; skill in obtaining and/or reconstructing missing documents and information; ability to overcome obstacles to gather and interpret evidence; ability to recognize and resolve discrepancies and/or inconsistencies among findings.
