Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain DoD Personnel to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: You will perform maintenance and repair services on all electrical equipment located on a large self-sustained floating plant. The duty location will be wherever the Mat Sinking Unit is located. Incentives MAY be approved. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Successfully complete and pass pre-employment physical. Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen, and inclusion in the randomized drug testing program. Work in inclement weather conditions. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic~ without more than normal supervision. Duties include: installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of electronically controlled industrial equipment and/or machinery; answering trouble calls and checking circuits, wiring, and transistors; and performing preventative maintenance on equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Work assignments require moderate physical effort. Frequent climbing via ladders and/stairs. Moderate lifting up to 40 pounds, with occasional lifting to 50 pounds. Lifting equipment is available for heavier jobs. Long periods of stooping, stretching, bending, and kneeling may be required when working in hard-to-reach places. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside subject to hazards of moving machinery, noise, fumes,combustible fuels, falling overboard and high voltage shock and burns. Subject to injury from tools and working in cramped quarters while making field repairs. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
