Summary
ABOUT THE POSITION: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
You may need to complete a 3 year probationary period, if applicable.
This position is with 7th Signal Command, 21st Signal Brigade, 302nd Signal Battalion, located at Camp Roberts, California.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
Must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
All weapons training and qualifications will be conducted IAW AR 190-56 “The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program”.
Must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability. Standard for medical exams are prescribed in AR 190-56 “The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program”. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
May be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
Must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
Must be able to perform as a member of the installation’s overall security response capability.
The duties and training required require for the employee to carry and deploy a riot baton, carry a protective shield and employ non-lethal ammunitions if necessary.
LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT: Must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
This position is designated as Key. The position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the mission.

Qualifications
This position is in the Technician/Administrative Support Category at the Entry/Developmental Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by experience reading and comprehending laws, regulations, or policies;
experience related to security of installation, persons, property, or facilities; and experience conduct walking or mobile patrol to identify possible intrusions or criminal activity.
Education
Must successfully complete security guard training.
Must be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid. May act as a first responder in a medical emergency.
Will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an physical agility test (PAT) within 30 days of hire and annual there after.
Failure to meet the PAT requirements as outline is Army Regulation 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program" will lead to separation from federal service.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.

Employee and prospective employee of this job are expected to maintain a high standard of conduct; and when being considered for employment and periodically thereafter, they must be assessed under the Individual Reliability Program for social adjustment, emotional stability, sound judgment, dependability, flexibility in adjusting to changes, ability to work effectively under pressure or emergency conditions, and a positive attitude toward his/her duties.
The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs may be warranted. This position may be subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
This position is designated "Mission Essential." In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. Due to the essential nature of this position, the incumbent cannot be a Ready Reservist, National Guardsman, or Military Retiree with recall obligations.
