This is a bargaining unit position.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting and applying compliance requirements of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA); 2) Provide consultative services on matters related to archaeological and historic resources; 3) Providing input on National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) issues in the development of Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements; and 4) Performing cultural resources and historic preservation services such as archaeological monitoring, archaeological and architectural survey, data recovery, development of cultural resources planning documents, curation, and public interpretation.

Education
Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Applicants must possess bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university that include 3 semester hours each in the following course areas: history of archaeology; Archaeology of a major geographical area such as North America or Africa; Regional archaeology, archaeological cultures, or sites in a specific part or portion of a major geographical area to acquire or develop a foundation for regional specialization for professional development; Theory and methods of archaeology (methods include, but are not limited to, typology, classification, sampling, cultural evolution, diffusion, dating, and analytical techniques); Archaeological field school, to provide a basic understanding of theoretical and practical approaches to research design implementation, field preservation techniques, and report preparation by participation in actual field work AND Six semester hours of related course work in: geography, geology, or cultural geography; history, historiography, or historical archaeology; environmental studies; scientific writing (nonfiction English composition); and/or surveying AND Archaeological field school.

A bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university with related curriculum: degree in anthropology (with emphasis on ethnology, physical anthropology, or scientific linguistics), history, American studies, or a related discipline may be accepted as satisfying in full the educational requirements, provided the curriculum supplied academic course work sufficiently similar to the requirements above (including archaeological field school).
OR
A combination of education and experience that includes college-level education or training that provided knowledge equivalent to that described above, plus appropriate technical experience or additional education.
OR
Four years of archaeological work experience that demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional archaeology. The work experience must have included archaeology field experience, which may include that gained in an archaeological field school. Field experience should have included a combination of professional experience in archaeological survey, excavation, laboratory analysis, and preparation of written materials. Applicants with such field experience should, after additional experience under the direction of a higher grade archaeologist, be able to demonstrate the ability to be a crew chief, directing the work of others at a single location as a part of a larger archaeological project.
Additional information
Salary - Local HI $90,662.00-$117,856.00. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.90% may be added to the stated salary.
