Summary The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Alaska is a vibrant and energetic office in the most majestic state in the country. The USAO has offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau. There are 23 Assistant United States Attorneys who prosecute federal crimes and defend and pursue the interests of the United States in civil cases. This employment opportunity is in the Criminal Division of our Anchorage office. This position is located in Anchorage, Alaska. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a United States Citizen or National. Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable. J.D. degree and active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) required. Must reside in the district to which appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district specific information. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Applicants must have excellent academic credentials, a J.D. degree, an active membership in good standing of the bar of any jurisdiction, minimum one (1) year post-J.D. experience, superior analytical abilities and oral communications skills, excellent research and writing skills, good judgment and strong character. Mentoring and training will be provided. United States citizenship is required. You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement. Degree Additional information Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $63,163 to $195,200 which includes locality pay. In addition there is a non-taxable cost of living allowance where authorized.
